The Forschungsgemeinschaft Indien und Südasien e. V. (FGI) (=German Study Circle for the postal history and philately of the Indian Subcontinent / Southern Asia) is a registered society associated to the Bund deutscher Philatelisten e.V. (BDPh). The FGI studies the postal history and deals with the philately of all of the countries of the Indian subcontinent.

FGI has been publishing ‘Indian-Report’ since December 1969. The last issue no. 116 of March 2021 came out on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the study circle.

Now, the circle is reviving the journal with the publication of issue no. 117 of May 2026. The chairman, Bernhard Schindler, mentions that lack of an editorial team led to non-publication for the last 5 years. Further, he also complains of declining membership which means that the burden of running the organisation falls on certain individuals. Nevertheless, the office bearers are preparing for their next meeting in Lutherstadt Wittenberg from 12 to 14 March 2027.

Anyone interested to know more about the FGI can consult its website. Becoming a member enables you to access all past issues of ‘Indian-Report’.
