(pcp-wm) What can be observed at the Olympic Committee, Formula 1, international sports federations and clubs, does not leave world philately unscathed. Numerous events have been cancelled or postponed, reports FIP President Bernie Beston from Australia.

It is known that LONDON 2020 has been cancelled in May 2020. If the organisers have their way, it will take place from 19 to 22 February 2022. However, the FIP still sees problems there due to the proximity of the FIP special exhibition HUNFILEX 2022 in Budapest, which will take place from 31 March to 3 April 2022.

The INDONESIA 2020 in August in Jakarta has been cancelled and postponed to November 5-10, 2020 for the time being. Thus the FIP Congress scheduled for 11 August will not take place, which is now scheduled for 10 November 2020. A final decision on the overall event will be made by the FIP in July with a view to the overall situation in the world at that time.

The BULGARIA 2020, a FIP Specialized World Stamp Championship exhibition, which was scheduled to take place in Sofia from 30 September to 4 October 2020, has been cancelled. The 38th Taipei 2020 International Asia Exhibition has been rescheduled from October 2020 to June 4-8, 2021.

ALPEN-ADRIA in Tarvisio and BAGLAPEX in Bangladesh have both been cancelled and a new date is to be found for them, while others such as SPM EXPO and EXFIGUA 2020 are still considering what to do.

Almost all philatelic event activities in Europe, but also in many other countries around the world, have been cancelled. The planned FIP seminars will not take place: Health and safety is now the top priority for everyone.
