Just in time for the 117th German Philatelists’ Day in Bautzen, the Consilium Philatelicum of the BDPh presents number 16 of its “Series on the History of Philately in Germany”. This 128-page brochure is dedicated to the IBRA 2023 World Exhibition. Numerous authors of the IBRA organising team let us relive the various stages of the planning, the unwanted postponement, the new beginning and the realisation in May 2023. In this way, one learns many things that one did not know as a visitor or even as a participant, feels many fears and problems that responsible staff and helpers not infrequently had and can thus better understand what a stone must have fallen from one’s heart when the exhibition was over with great success. What really enriches the brochure is not only the different styles and expressions of the numerous authors, but the generously laid-out visual material by photographers Petra Kornmesser and Wilhelm van Loo. They put into the picture what for quite a few were unforgettable moments that one remembers with pleasure again and again.

Producing such an extensive brochure is an effort that should not be underestimated. Günther Korn, the chairman of the Concilium, had been diligently assisted in the editorial work, among others by Wolfgang Maassen, who took over the proofreading and the acquisition of advertisements. Thanks to the advertisements of the BDB, BPP, the AIJP, the Deutsche Post and three cover advertisements of the auction house Heinrich Köhler in Wiesbaden, but especially the foundation and BDPh sponsorship, this elaborate publication could be produced at a more than reasonable price. Phil*Creativ Verlag in Schwalmtal was responsible for the design. The brochure can be ordered for 10 Euros (incl. postage) from Philatelie Promotion UG, c/o BDPh office, Mildred-Scheel-Str. 2, 53175 Bonn. Tel. 02 28/308 580, e-mail: info@bdph.de
