The album book featuring Albanian postage stamps dedicated to Mother Teresa was first published in 2018. Six years have now passed, and this book has been well received by readers, especially philatelic researchers and collectors of Albanian postage stamps in Albania and abroad.
Taking into account the high moral and human values of this book, as well as the numerous requests from readers, we are reprinting it to mark the 112th anniversary of Saint Mother Teresa’s birth and the 8th anniversary of her burial.
During these years, the book-album: Mother Teresa on Albanian Stamps (2018 edition), has participated in international philatelic book exhibitions and won the following three medals:
- China 2019, silver;
- Cinisello Balsamo 2019 (Italy), vermeil;
- Nordia 2019, silver.
In this new edition, the shortcomings and criticisms of this book, as presented at international philatelic book exhibitions, have been taken into account. This is based on the refined evaluation criteria for philatelic literature proposed by the International Association of Philatelic Journalists (AIJP), of which I am a member.
Appropriate improvements have been made, taking into account the changes reflected in the 2024 edition of the Michel catalogue for the Northern Balkans, which now includes Albania.
Saint Mother Teresa, who dedicated her life to helping the poor all over the world through her spiritual, moral and humanitarian mission, has also received positive evaluations from world leaders.
Pope John Paul II, praising Mother Teresa, emphasised: “How can we forget Gonxhe (Anjezë) Bojaxhiu, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the daughter of the Albanian people who has given Honor and Glory to her Nation and the Catholic Church.”
In 2002, the former President of the USA, Bill Clinton, emphasised: “Mother Terza was the first who made me love the Albanian Nation. And now I feel very proud that I fulfilled a moral duty, towards her and the values of freedom.”
On 4 September 2016, the Mass of the Signs for the canonisation of Saint and Blessed Mother Teresa of Albania was held in St Peter’s Square in the Vatican, in the presence of 250,000 believers and 15 world leaders.
On 4 September 2016 in Omeli, Pope Francis emphasized: “Mother Teresa has taught us to help people without differences of ideology, race and religious belief.”
Don Lush Gjergji, the biographer of Mother Teresa and author of 18 books dedicated to her, emphasises in his foreword to this book: “Mother Teresa had fulfilled all the conditions to be declared a saint, so every day her followers, and the people called her Sancta Teresa – Saint Teresa, and September 4, 2016 arrived , the beautiful day when Pope Francis added her to the list of saints of the Catholic Church, adding that Mother Teresa is not only a value of Christianity, but a great value of mankind and belongs to all the people of the world.”
Saint Mother Terza, the famous Albanian, has become the saint of human love. Through her work serving the poor, she has become the most perfect model of respect and morality for people of all countries.
