(rk/pcp) The German philatelic association Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Portugal und ehemalige Kolonien e.V. im BDPh e.V. has published the 26th issue of the free digital magazine ‘Moderne Angola-Philatelie’ (MAP) in pdf format.

At the beginning of the 1980s there was a short-lived philatelic association in Angola, which was also reported on in the GDR specialist magazine ‘sammler express’. The ‘União dos Filatelistas Angolanos’ even held at least two exhibitions in Luanda. All the information available to date has been compiled in this MAP. Other topics include the mail sent by diplomats in Luanda to a dealer in Copenhagen, and a profile of the graphic artist Horácio Dá Mesquita, who designed many Angolan stamps.

A new MAP special issue is planned for November 2024, which will include information sheets from the Angolan postal service. This will be the first of a small series of special editions to be presented by the ‘Edital’, as far as is known.

The next MAP, to be published in January 2025, will present late usages and mixed frankings after independence, as well as business letters to Europe and Rainha (Queen) Njinga Mbande, and covers with the Afinsa issues.

The new issue, all previous MAP issues and the special issues can be ordered free of charge as PDF files by emailing reinhardkuechler@yahoo.de. The magazines are not printed or sent by post.
