Preannouncement: The return of a bibliophile legend: (The) Indian Philatelist

The journal “(The) Indian Philatelist” is one of the rarest and most important specialised journals of the 19th century, which reported on philately worldwide. It was published from 1894, although only 50 copies were printed in 1894/95. Hardly any of these have survived. And if at all, only incomplete. One of the exceptions, which can at best be counted on one hand, can be found today in the American Philatelic Research Library in the USA.

Thanks to the support of this library and the initiative of Jonas Hällström and the Global Philatelic Network, a computer-optimised reprint of the old yellowed journals has been made possible and will be published in April 2025. Abhishek Bhuwalka – a well-known literary expert from India – will accompany this reprint with an extensive review of the first two volumes of this unique journal. In keeping with the original, this reprint will also only be published in an edition of 50 copies.
