(wm-AIJP/pcp) This is probably a record that stands alone in the history of philately. At least the author knows of no other philatelist who has worked as an international judge at philatelic exhibitions for almost five decades. Wolff (born on 16 March 1934), who has been president of the Luxembourg Philatelic Association for 31 years and has been a member of its board for 51 (!) years, was president of the FIP and has promoted young people by organising numerous youth exhibitions in his country. In 2019, his association celebrated its 85th anniversary, which the Luxembourg Post took as an opportunity to issue a block designed by Martin Mörck. In the same year, Wolff organised the multilateral exhibition ‘LUXEMBOURG 2019’, an exhibition with the participation of Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Slovenia. At that time, 78 exhibitors took part with exhibits in the competition, and 21 literary exhibits were also registered and could be viewed at a separate stand. A further 28 exhibits were on display outside of the competition, and many of the exhibits shown in the almost 600 frames were worth a second look.
Jos Wolff is still active today, and we can only wish him all the best and good health for the future on the occasion of his ‘jury anniversary’.
