(P*C-pcp) For 14 years, Heinrich Mimberg was the face of the DASV newsletters and research reports. He was elected editor in May 2012 and held the position until June 2024, because at the general meeting in Hamelin, as previously planned and intended, the role of editor was transferred to the Schwalmtal-based professional journalist Michael Maaßen, who had already been designing the look of the DASV newsletters for five years. Michael Maaßen introduced himself to all members in more detail in the latest issue of the newsletter (no. 530, June 2024).

“Some would say that I was born into philately. When I was born in 1980, my father, Wolfgang Maaßen, was already an active, committed philatelist, working at club and association level and as an author, among other things. As a result, my parents founded the Phil’Creativ publishing house and have been at home in the philatelic media landscape for almost 40 years, specialising as an editorial agency and publishing house. Even though I came into constant contact with stamps as a child, it wasn’t until my student days that I really got to grips with philately and postal history and became involved in my parents’ company on a larger scale. After completing my master’s degree in German studies, I decided to do a traineeship as an editor or proofreader and found my professional home in the family business as a philatelic journalist, editor and author. My areas of activity include editorial and authoring work, but also graphic design and the antiquarian sale of philatelic literature in the company’s own web shop. I am also involved in philately outside of work. On the one hand as a collector, and on the other as an honorary member of the board of the Federal Association of the German Stamp Trade (APHV) since 2017, where I currently hold the position of Vice President. But only in passing.

Over the past few years, I have come to know the DASV as an extraordinary community of interested postal historians. I am now looking forward to taking on the main responsibility for designing our high-quality newsletter and also tackling new projects together with the DASV board.”
