(rk/pcp) The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Portugal und ehemalige Kolonien e.V. im BDPh e.V. has published another special edition of the free digital magazine ‘Moderne Angola-Philatelie’ (MAP) in pdf format.

In the past, Correios de Angola issued a mostly graphically simple information sheet for (almost) every stamp issue. As a rule, the first day cover was shown, with space provided for the respective stamps with first day postmarks to be affixed. In addition, background information on the issue was sometimes printed in Portuguese, French and English. In (almost) every case, they included information about the designer, printing process, printer, paper, number of stamps in the sheet, perforation, stamp size, issue date, nominal value and price of the first day cover.

The information sheets were sent by the Post Office’s philatelic department in Luanda to trade journals and subscribers. The print run of the early sheets is not known. However, it is likely that there were only a few thousand of each. Most recipients will not have kept the sheets. It is therefore not surprising that they are rarely offered.
This special edition shows the information sheets from 1980 to around the end of 1983 (if available). The next years will follow in upcoming MAP special editions.

The next stamp collection, which is to appear in January 2025, will present late usages and mixed frankings after independence, as well as business letters to Europe and Rainha (Queen) Njinga Mbande, and covers with the Afinsa issues.

The new issue, all previous MAP issues and the special editions can be ordered free of charge at any time as PDF files by emailing reinhardkuechler@yahoo.de. The issues will not be printed out or sent by post.
