(wm) On 23 March 2017 the American John Mc Clure Hotchner has been selected as signatory to the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists of the Royal Philatelic Society in London. Hotchner is the author of a regular column in the American stamp magazine ‘Linn’s Stamp News‘, titled ‘U.S. Stamp Notes‘. Also on 23 March, three other distinguished philatelists were elected to become signatories to the Roll: Alan Holyoake (UK), Colin Tabeart (UK) and Steven Walske (USA).
Being allowed to sign the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists is one of the highest and most prestigious honors in philately. The Roll recognizes achievement, research, publication and service. It was established in 1920. In 1921, King George V was the first to sign the Roll.
The four new signatories will be honored in Cardiff on 28 July 2017, the day that they will actually sign the Roll.
