18.11.2016 - Allen R. Kane steps down as director of the SNPM

(lsn) The director of the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, Allen R. Kane, has announced that he will retire in January 2017. Mr. Kane, who is a former United States Postal Service executive, suffered in May of this year a serious heart attack. This is the main reason why he wishes to step down as director of the SNPM. His doctors have insisted that he must undergo additional operations to correct the damage that his heart suffered during the attack. According to Mr. Kane, who is 71, the operations would keep him away from the museum for several months. ‘We’ve got a lot of stuff on the drawing board,’ he explains in the October 24 edition of the American stamp magazine ‘Linn’s Stamp News’, expressing his regret that his health would not allow him to do his work as the highest executive of the museum.
