The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists of the Royal Philatelic Society of London (RPS,L) may be compared to what in the United States perhaps would be called the ´Philatelic Hall of Fame’. For those renowned philatelists who have achieved international recognition it is a great honour to be allowed to put their signature on this ‘Roll’. In doing so, they follow the example of His Majesty King George V, who signed the Roll in 1921. Since then, 356 philatelists from 38 countries have done the same. From these signatories only 75 (originating from 24 different) countries are still amongst us.

The selection committee - Chairwoman Jane Moubray, Tomas Bjäringer, Christopher Harman, Alan Huggins, Rolf-Dieter Jaretzky, Robert Odenweller, Patrick Pearson, Raymond Todd and secretary Christopher King – decided at its meeting of 7 March 2012 that this year four new philatelists may sign the Roll. This will happen on 21 October 2012, in Perth, during the Philatelic Congress of Great Britain. It concerns Jamie Gough (USA), Robin Gwynn (New Zealand), Patrick Maselis (Belgium) and Michael Sefi (UK).
