Next year, from 10 to 15 May 2013, the international stamp exhibition Australia 2013 will take place. Already now, the event has received some critic, as can be seen in a Editorial of the January/February 2012 edition of the Greek magazine Philoteliea. In the Editorial Costas Chazapis, Editor of Philoteliea, describes Australia 2013 as a ‘bad precedent’.

Chazapis’s criticism concerns the exorbitant raise of the fees that exhibitors have to pay for their entrance in the exhibition. He speaks of a ‘burden’ for exhibitors and he regards the higher fees as ‘discouraging’. The average fee for a frame at European exhibitions is about 30 Euros, whilst the Australians want a steep 72 Euros per frame. Even literature exhibits are expensive: each title or object entered for competition costs 72 Euros (for comparison: IPHLA 2012 in Mainz charges only 30 Euros).
