On 1 February 2012 the official registration deadline for the exhibits at IPHLA 2012 expired. The organisers were already pleasantly surprised that all available booths of this international philatelic literature exhibition (it will take place in the German city of Mainz on 2, 3 and 4 November) had been booked fully before Christmas 2011. And now there was the comparable and also pleasant surprise to notice that all available spots for actual exhibits were gone before the end of January 2012. Expected was a total of about 300 exhibits, but when February arrived it became clear that the total amount of applications had grown out to more than 500 exhibits. Without exaggeration one could say that the exhibition now has risen to such a level that it may be compared with a world exhibition. During the course of this month, a number of ‘stragglers’ will be entered into the database as well. The organization director of IPHLA 2012, Wolfgang Maassen, has already promised that he will not be too petty when one or two people surface that have sadly missed the deadline; they will be allowed to participate also. But there the line is drawn; no new entries will be possible from that moment on.
