The foundation congress of an italian association of journalists, authors, and publishers in the field of philately took place in Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, May 8th of 1966. Since then, it has been an institution by means of congresses, exhibitions and conferences. This year, the jubilee will be celebrated in Riccione in the form of a congress on September 2-3rd in the course of the Stamp, Coin, and Phone Card Fair there. One day will be reserved for presentations of Italy’s most well-known philatelists.

On the occasion of the jubilee of the USFI, the postal administrations of Italy and San Marino, as well as the administration of Maltese Order of Knights, have issued special stamps; furthermore, the Italian post will offer an aerogram for 1 Euro. Even the “Osservatore Romano”, the official organ of the Vatican, has covered the anniversary and the new aerogram.

The AIJP, which had been founded in Prague in 1962 as an international association, has been cultivating cooperative contacts with the USFI, and a range of Italian colleagues are members in both associations. Therefore, the AIJP congratulates its colleague association and expresses its best wishes for a successful event in Riccione in September.
