Every year or every other year, the so-called Yearly Congress of the Association of International Philatelic Journalists (AIJP) takes place. When choosing a location, the AIJP always tries to select a suitable philatelic occasion. Usually these congresses take place during important national or international stamp exhibitions. In 2005, the AIJP held its Yearly Congress in Brno (Czech Republic) and this year, 2006, the congress will be held on May 6th, during the 16th International Stamp Fair in Essen (Germany).

The AIJP members will assemble in the Main Conference Room of the ‘Blumenhof’ Restaurant, to be found on the Gruga Park premises, close to the buildings of the Essen Fair and near the Fair entrance called ‘Lührmannstraße’. The meeting will start at 10.30 h.; the doors of the conference room will open at 10.00 h.

All AIJP members are of course heartily invited to attend the AIJP’s World Congress in Essen; the same goes for those authors and journalists wishing to get acquainted with the organisation and with its members, or those who want to obtain information about the advantages and services of the AIJP. The World Congress not only is an outstanding occasion to meet and greet the members of the AIJP, but can also be used to meet representatives of national and international philatelic bodies, postal administrations and members of the international press.

If you would like to visit the AIJP’s World Congress in Essen, please notify Wolfgang Maassen (W.Maassen@aijp.org) in advance; he will see to it that your seat is reserved!
