Nearly every Dutch philatelist knows of the existence of Holland’s oldest independent stamp monthly, ‘Filatelie’ (full title: ‘Nederlandsch Maandblad voor Philatelie’). With a history of over eighty years and with some 33.000 subscribers, ‘Filatelie’is the leading philatelic magazine in the Netherlands. The publication appears in a modern fashion and it presents a varied and always interesting mixture of articles and regular columns about nearly every field that can be found within the world of philately. As Editor of ‘Filatelie’, Aad Knikman is responsible for the editorial policy of the magazine and for its philatelic content. AIJP member Cees van Balen Blanken is President of the foundation that acts as the publisher of the magazine.

For the AIJP (the world association of philatelic authors and professional philatelic journalists) it is a special pleasure to welcome ‘Filatelie’ in the circle of Official AIJP Partners. This is even more the case since there has always been a narrow cooperation between the AIJP and the Dutch: a substantial number of AIJP members live and work in the Netherlands. Thanks to the new partnership between the AIJP and ‘Filatelie’, this tradition of close cooperation can be further enhanced.
