(wm) The latest issue PHILA HISTORICA, a digital publication dedicated to philately, postal history and philatelic literature (number 4 of the year 2018) has been published on 20 December 2018. As before, it will be available free of charge on the Internet at; just go to the website The issue contains 256 pages with a number of interesting topics. Editor Wolfgang Maassen presents Günther Formery's important "Lexikon der Ansichtskarten" in detail. He also discusses philatelic an postal within the framework of the subject "Social Philately". For the first time in history he presents a complete bibliography of all auction catalogues of the Irish auction company Shanahan. The auction caused a sensation in the period 1955-1959 and managed to grow into the world's largest auction company dealing with philately. A comprehensive elaboration by Michael Kuhn on the famous Russian philatelist Friedrich Breitfuß might also be of interest to philatelic researchers.
With around 1,000 pages, the 2018 volume of PHILA HISTORICA is now complete in digital form. But like before there will be also a complete annual in traditional ink to paper fashion. It concerns a very small print run (maximum: 30 copies) in black-and-white and bound in hardcover. If you order a copy before 20 January 2019 the selling price will be 60 Euro (p&p excluded). After this date, single copies of the remainder of the print run will be still available, but then for 80 Euro (p&p excluded).
