03.09.2018 - A shower of glittering prizes for philatelic author Wolfgang Maassen

(wm) During the international exhibition PRAGA 2018, the well-known author and specialized philatelic journalist Wolfgang Maassen received the "European Literature Prize 2018", awarded by the European Academy of Philately (AEP). The AEP’s vice-president, Rainer von Scharpen (President Jean Voruz was absent due to a family bereavement), held the laudation for Wolfgang Maassen. Maassen received the "European Literature Prize 2018" for his extensive research on Philipp von Ferrari, the "King of the Stamp Collectors”, who died 100 years ago, and for the result of his research: a two-volume biography of Von Ferrari. Both books were awarded gold at PRAGA. The German book version was awarded an additional prize of honour. And last but not least, the FEPA, the European Federation of National Collectors' Associations, also honoured this work with a certificate that documented his participation as a finalist in the competition for the "FEPA Medal for Exceptional Research".
