21.04.2017 - FEPA Medals 2016 awarded
(gm/wm) The Federation of European Philatelic Associations (FEPA) has awarded its medal for exceptional service to organized philately to Christo Vasilev Nikoltchev from Bulgaria. Nikoltchev's service to philately started in the early seventies and has ranged through different geographies: national, Balkan, European, worldwide. His main area of service has been to youth philately and he served as chairman of the relevant FIP Commission from 1990 to 1992. For more than 40 years he has been involved in a large number of activities as organizer, juror, author and seminar leader.
Another FEPA-award, the Medal for Exceptional Philatelic Study and Research in the year 2016, went to Ari Muhonen (chief researcher), who wrote ‘Finnish postage rates 1875-2001’, which was published by the Finnish Postal Museum. Muhonen’s co-authors were Harri Ala-Honkola, Hannu Kauppi, Juhani Kerppola, und Esko Seitsonen; they received a special certificate.
There were also certificates for a number of runners-up: Thimi Nika (Albania), Horst Diederich (Germany), Julion Auleytner (Poland) and Vacille Brala (Romania).
